Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) unifies and builds on the diverse set of existing distribution mechanisms, which include ASP.NET Web services and .NET Remoting. In this WCF training course, students will learn how to produce highly configurable, secure, reliable and transactional services using a single simplified programming model. Through instructor demonstration and hands-on lab exercises, students will learn how WCF enables simple interoperation with other platforms and technologies.

By the end of the class students will be able to:

  • Know what WCF is, and how it unites existing distribution mechanisms
  • Understand what ABC (Address, Binding, Contract) means for WCF services
  • Implement WCF services and clients
  • Prerequisites:
Prior programming experience in at least one object-oriented language such as a .NET language (e.g., C#, VB.NET), Java, or C++. Experience with the .NET and knowledge of building distributed systems and Web services will be a plus.
