We all love the Web but unfortunately Web applications have their limitation, especially when it comes to user interface and responsiveness. Adobe’s Flex framework provides a platform for developers to build rich, elegant, scalable applications that can reach anyone anywhere. In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of this framework. They will learn how the framework follows a consistent development model with other Adobe products such as Flash. Students will work with the Flex development tool, built on the popular open-source tool Eclipse. They’ll complete labs leveraging MXML, events, state management, data, services and more!

By the end of the class students will be able to:

  • Understand the basics of the Flex framework
  • Learn to work with the Flex builder
  • Understand MXML and use it for layout and generated code
  • Learn to work with controls and navigation
  • Learn to manage applications, state and data
  • Learn to integrate components and ActionScript
  • Understand how to use XML and Web Services
  • Prerequisites:
    Working knowledge of an object oriented programming language such as Java or C++.   Familiarity with XML terminology.
