By using a number of practical case studies the participant will learn in this ITIL® Practitioner course how Security Management can be implemented effectively.   Besides the key concepts of ITIL® attention will be paid to the preparation and implementation of procedures and instructions using the ITIL® module Security Management in practice.

The second day of this class includes an optional exam.

Both through lecture, and the simulation, participants will:

  • Organize, manage and improve the Security Management Process
  • Define and implement procedures related to this process
  • Understand the core aspects of security management and security measures
  • Define a ‘code of information security’
  • Have an understanding of the importance of auditing and their usage regarding the Security Management process
  • The relation between the ITIL® process Security Management and BS7799 (ISO17799)
  • Establish interfaces between Security Management and other processes
  • Create reports and understand which KPI’s are useful

Target Audience:

Participants in this practitioner course are  working in an IT environment within the scope of the Security Management process. They are ITIL® Foundation certified and want to gain more experience in managing, organizing and optimizing this process in their own organization.

  • Prerequisites:

Potential candidates should:

  • Be certified at ITIL® Foundation level
  • Have some experience with Security Management
  • Prepare themselves by re-reading foundation material specifically on the subject of the process mentioned above
  • Be willing to share their experiences on the subject good and bad
  • Certification:

This course prepares the participant for the official EXIN exam of ITIL® Practitioner Security Management. Quint stresses the fact however that the participants are not  obliged to take the exam after attending the course. Depending on the participant’s objectives Quint advises taking the exam only if certification is a key objective.   Participants who take the exam are  prepared extensively through test exams  and instructor feedback. The exam is a 40 question multiple choice exam. Participants will receive the certificate after answering at least 26 questions correctly.

The ITIL® Practitioner Certificate Release & Control can be obtained passing both the In Course  Asessment and the exam.

Accreditation:

The Certification Institute (EXIN) has accredited Quint Wellington Redwood to provide this course and exam which leads to an official ITIL® Practitioner Security Management Certificate. EXIN accreditation means that the quality of this course is assured by approved course material, accredited instructors and actively performance monitoring by EXIN auditors.
